Does Program X Really Work?
So I was at the gym tonight and I was working hamstrings/lower back.
Right now I am actually in contest prep for an upcoming fitness model competition
I will be competing in, scheduled for sometime in early 2010.
I am focusing on heavy workouts to insure my body responds well by holding
onto as much muscle as possible while I strip the fat.
Anyways, onto the real reason I wanted to talk to you today.
Like I said, I was working my lower back tonight and I was doing some pretty heavy deadlifts.
I had just finished a killer set and was trying to catch my breath as the gym seemed to be spinning around and around. This guy came up and asked for a spot.
I dont really workout with anyone because I find no one actually goes to the gym to REALLY work. But I do interact with others when they need a spot or when I do.
Right before spotting him on a set of an incline bench press, he starts chit chatting about working out.
Gym Guy: So hows your work out going?
Gym Guy: Thats good, I am really tired this week man, my friend and I did this workout ‘Program X’.
Me: oh really? Yeah I know that workout, I never tried it but I know who came up with it.
Then he asked the age old question…
Gym Guy: Cool, but does it work…?
How many times have you asked or heard someone ask this question? I myself have asked this too when I first started lifting.
I want to clear this question up for people all over wondering if Program X REALLY works (by the way Program X is not a reall program, just an example).
In fact, every program works as long as you follow some basic principles which I want to share.
You see a workout program is not a magic pill that ‘works’ the day after you use it. Its a tool that you use to progressively overload your body. If done properly, it will respond to adding muscle to your frame.
Here are two principles to MAKE the program work for you:
2. Make sure that you progressively overload your body. This means every week, or repeated workout, make sure to increase the intensity by adding weights to the bar, shortening your rests and/or finishing the workout faster.
Give your body a reason to grow muscle. Expose it to something it hasnt experienced before, then progress and you will see results!
Does ‘Program X’ work? Of course, as long as you apply at minimum those two principles above.
Stop asking and searching.
Decide, Commit, Progress get ready to achieve your goals!
